It’s rare that I dedicate a post to a person, rather than a technique or discovery, but it would be remiss of me not to dedicate a Fabric Friday post to sewing ace, Debbie Shore.

Yup, I’ve finally gotten around to it. It’s bag making time!
*races off to the craft room* …
I’ve often seen prairie points in various guises and creations however I’ve never had a go at these.
The notion of mucking about with these little triangles resurfacedĀ when they were briefly demonstrated duringĀ a recent show that I worked onĀ at Create and Craft featuring Debbie Johnson and Kim Suleman from Canny Keepsakes/Six Penny Memories.
I mentally noted down the “how to” in my memory bank of makes but it was only in the last day or so that I have managed toĀ getĀ a couple of days to play in the craft room.
So, given that I had the time and the inclination – I thought that I would have a go.
I’ve been sewing up some pin cushions this week as little testers for christmas (yes, I said it) gifts for some friends and family that like sewing so I thought that I would share the results (so far) with you.
Just a quickie for Fabric Friday this weekĀ that combines my love of fabric with my passion for reading.
Bookmarks are fairly easy to create and involve some very basic skills. In this post I’llĀ give you a very basic overview as to how I create mineĀ to give you a jumping off point in case you wanted to have a go yourself.
Welcome to the second post in the Fabric Friday series.
Last week I promised that I would be back each Friday to show you some fabric projects, tips and ideasĀ – yay! I managed two in a row!
Since then I have had a number of you contact me to say that you are new to sewing and need simple to make ideas; some of you also asked for details on how to make the fabric bowls that I showed you last week.
So, Fabric Friday 2 ticks both of those boxes with a walk-through on how I make the fabric bowls.
It has occurred to me that I often prattle on about how much I love working with fabrics but haven’t really shown much of it on this blog.
To rectify this I will be setting down soon and putting together a series of blog posts that will come out every Friday (assuming that I have the time of course).
They will aptly be named – Fabric Friday :)
This one is a little teaser to show you just a few of the things that I have done in the past and what I will be showing you how to do in these posts (oh, and a little update on the upcycled shirt quilt that I have been working on for what seems like forever!).
We all know the feeling, the nights are drawing in and getting colder so we go out less and look for things to keep us busy in the long winter months.
So, at the risk of creating yet more UFOs I’ve been looking at starting some winter projects.
HavingĀ a life long passion for sewing, and having produced a lot of the quilting classroom shows on Create and Craft TV with Jennie Rayment it was inevitable that I would want to have a go at patchwork. This is just a quick post with a gallery of some of my attempts.
I’m always on the look out for things to sew so a while ago I set about learning to create a mobile phone case. Here is a quick overview of the process and a few examples of what I came up with.
Ever have a project turn out totally different to how you intended? Well that’s exactly what happened to me – there was definitely a gremlin in the works.
