With 73 available colours, the Distress Ink range from Ranger Industries and Tim Holtz has to be one of the biggest and most widely used range of inkpads out there but, how many times do you want to create a blended gradient but don’t want to waste that precious ink or cardstock?
Well, I’ve been coding away and have managed to put together a nifty little tool that will help you play, visualise and test out colour combinations before you ever commit blending tool to inkpad.
Let me introduce you to the Online Distress Ink Blend Generator!

With this tool you can select from 2 to 6 colours to blend, choose any of the currently available 73 colours from the range of immediately see what they will look like blended across the screen! Neat, eh?!
Better still, you can fiddle with the wee colour stops at the top to get an idea of how the blend will change if you space the colours out differently.
Anyway, if you’d like to have a fiddle yourself, just jab the big button below and I will whisk you over to the wee online applet and you can have a go yourself.
So listen, before you go, please can you do me a favour? This is me dipping my toe into the world of coding for crafts so if you think of a way this tool could be updated, I’d love to have your feedback below this post.
My head is already a whirl with update ideas like,
- Realism overlays including oxide effects, water spatter effects, textures etc.
- More realistic blends taking into account ink bleed.
- Expanding it into other brands and colour ranges.
- Exporting printable and shareable images so you can build a library.
But seriously, what do you think? Do you like it? Will you use it?
Anyway, in the meantime, it’s not the first time I have made tools to help with this range either. If you are looking for a storage solution, please do check out this blog post from way back in 2014!
While you are in this rabbit hole, please also check out these other awesome makes that I created back in the day featuring Tim Holtz Distress Inkpads – there’s loads!
Ok, that’s it for this post. I hope that you have enjoyed your time here today and will subscribe to my email newsletter so that you can hear about future posts.
If have not already done so, please feel free to pop your email address in the box below and I will add you to the list (you can unsubscribe at anytime in the future if I bore you with too many).
In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing you next time!
Much love,
John.
