Scan N Cut Saturday – A New App Is Coming, Stuff You May Want To Know

Recently Brother announced a new mobile app called Artspira that will allow you to create, edit and transfer designs directly to your Scan N Cut machine.

Now, your ability to access this will depend on a few things so let me drum things down to some well organised Q and A.

Ok, so what is Artspira?

The official blurb states, “Artspira is a cloud-based design platform. Easily edit, create and design all within one app, then transfer your creations wirelessly to your Brother WLAN enabled machine.”

What does that mean?

Sounds like it will be a great way to get fresh designs, new design ideas and to try out a whole bunch of projects that may not have been on your radar before. As for what else this means in terms of functionality, sadly I don’t have enough information on that right now.

What mobile devices will it work on?

This app is set to be released for both iOS and Android enabled mobile phones and tablets through their respective app stores.

What Scan N Cut models will it work with?

At the time of reading the official blurb, it looks set to be compatible with a range of SDX models however no CM models were listed so I reached out to Brother but haven’t heard back from them yet.

Is It A Canvas Workspace App?

From what I have read and seen, no. There will however be some editing tools available in the app.

Can I Log In With My Canvas Workspace Account?

Sadly, this isn’t clear at this time.

Is The App Free?

From what I have heard and read, yes. There will also be new designs available each week/month depending on whether you are accessing cutting or embroidery designs – a bit like Canvas Workspace.

Where Can I Find Out More Information?

I can only find official information on the U.S. website at the moment so I am hopeful that this app isn’t geo-locked and that we will have access in the UK (and of course other regions) and I have reached out to Brother for clarity on that but haven’t heard back as yet.

Here is a link to the official app page on the U.S. website – https://www.brother-usa.com/home/sewing-embroidery/artspira

Here is the official teaser video from Brother.

  1. Thank you for the info, John. As the owner of a non-WiFi CM model I’m a bit ‘underwhelmed’ by this app. Good to see though that Brother are developing new things for the Scan n Cut.

  2. Sounds like a good app, but having a CM machine it might not be for me. Will need more info I think. Look forward to you finding out more & telling us all bout it.
    Thank you John.
