Lol, well, there’s not a huge amount more to say after that title but I am sure that I will find a way to waffle on for a bit so if you are not too busy, do read on…

Looks nothing like my home though, lol! That’s part of the reason for this break. A time out to get festive-stuff finished and sent.
Some folk already are. Some folk had it sorted months ago. Well – done – them.
Did you hear the sarcastic eye-roll?
Lol, no, just joking. Definitely well done them for having a plan ahead of time and making it happen. I salute them because no matter what this year of infection and pre-brexit dread has delivered, they are delivering Christmas in whatever shape that will take.
Whether families are celebrating together or in multiple homes via Zoom, it will still happen and no-one will be left out – dagnabbit!
Me? I’m still nowhere near festive-ready. Not by a long shot. I don’t know why. I mean, it comes around the same time every year and I have had – I guess – the same amount of time as everyone else. But somehow I haven’t. Again.
Having spoken to a fair few folk on Facebook, it seems I am not alone. How are you getting on? Ready?
This year I am going to be spending the day on my own – no pity please, it’s definitely through choice. I will be snacking in my bed, then when the snack dust and puff pastry flake pile gets too high, I shall be using the handheld hoover to suck it all from my chest hair and beard and doing it all over again!
Anyway, on that tragic and disgusting note, I’d best get to the point of this post which was to wish you a lovely festive period – don’t get too p*ssed – and to say that although I won’t be blogging now until the new year – I will be kicking things off on a more regular footing again so do keep an eye out for me email/social media posts.
Thanks so much for reading the rubbish that I churn out, and leaving your comments like a trail of fairy dust for me to find the next time I log in, it really does make a difference.
So listen, whatever you plan on doing over the next couple of weeks, please do it with happiness in your heart and the knowledge that we are all in this mess together so lets make it a happy mess.

GENTLEMAN CRAFTER 
Have a lovely Christmas John! I’m planning to have a christmas day of blissful solitude too. The plan is to chuck the birdie into the slow cooker to ferment whilst I disappear out with the dogs for a couple of hours, then sort out the necessary mountain of roast tatties, parsnips and pigs in blankets to accompany said bird when I get back. The rest of the day will probably be spent curled up with the dogs and cat, buried in a good book, and eating far more than I should (hence the walk first – ease the guilt of gluttony!), and perhaps a cheeky wee mulled wine or two …or three …! I’m nowhere near being organised, as usual – I put it off as long as possible, then get slightly panicky at the impending last posting dates! Ach, there’s another one next year – I might be organised for that one … yeah, right! Look at those pigs (in blankets) flying past …!

I always start my cards in July (I know, bonkers but I like to be organised). All was well and my Christmas stash put away when my lovely ex boss and close friend asked me if I could make her a “few” cards. No problem said I. Then I found out she wanted six dozen! Fortunately she likes plain and simple so I was able to get them done within the week. Speed crafting or what!! Hope you have a splendid Christmas John and return to us refreshed and raring to go. I am still making cards and, since the lady in the post office on Saturday told me that 2nd class post is taking 3 weeks to get anywhere, I guess that most of my peeps will not get their cards until the new year. I’m afraid my budget won’t run to first class for all!
Maybe next year I will be more organised!

Merry Christmas. To be fair I have been all done and dusted for awhile, but then it is only me in the house and I am retired. All my Volunteering at the hospital is on hold until the hostilities are over. I am going to number 3 son’s for Christmas Dinner and will be on my own the rest of the time. I really don’t mind.

It’s good to know that others are as chaotic as I am. Couldn’t get motivated until last Friday and now panic has set in. Made and posted 9 cards so far, only another 2 dozen to go! I shall be spending The Day on my own but family are threatening to come on Boxing Day – I’m trying to dissuade them! I love being on my own, doing what I want, when I want, how I want. Guess I could be called selfish! Can’t spend my day like you though John, I have a lovely dog that needs to be walked twice a day, just as well for I’d probably spend lots of days in bed.

However you spend your Xmas enjoy, I quite like the idea of just having the day in bed and snacking, wake up the next morning and it’s all over lol would save all the organising for one day……I’m not a Xmas misery just thinking it would make a nice change, anyway enjoy and look forward to better 2021 for everyone.

I haven’t started yet, but then I never do. I have spent Christmas day more or less on my own for a few years now, and I find it very peaceful. I can do what I like, when I like, hardly any people or traffic, a walk with the dog, my son drops in for a visit. Have a good one John, nothing strenuous….. We’ll see you again next year. xx

Thank you John for you inspiration, I have enjoyed your last few blogs with ideas for Christmas cards that can be used all year round. I’ll be downloading the layouts when the rush is over!!! Thank you. As for my preparations, we’ll getting there slowly. A quiet one for us this year tho we’ll probably video chat with family at some point. Hi John,
I am normally one of those ‘smug ready’ types, I work part time and from home. But this year my partner has been ‘working from home’ and therefore my only ‘crafting’ has been cooking and cleaning!!!! A total of 3 Christmas cards have been made so I am now doing a headless chicken impression sending out purchased charity cards and wondering if I can get away without cooking over the Christmas break!
Perhaps I should suggest your Christmas plan!!! Enjoy yourself, a lot of us will think of you snuggled in bed and be very, very jealous!

Have a good break, John. You are definitely not alone in not being ready. Every day I say that that I must get my cards finished/written and every day I just go and do some other crafting instead. I haven’t got any excuse for not being ready this year! It’s the same every year though, Christmas catches me by surprise 😊. Wishing you a happy and peaceful Christmas and all of us a better 2021. X
