This week I had chance to create another Stamp It Sunday blog post so would like to share that with you today if I may.
The stamps for this creation, as for the last two, came from Issue 43 of Creative Stamping magazine.
This creation started out by stamping the lighthouse design onto an A6 piece of white cardstock.
I then created a mask from a sticky note to go over this, cut it out and stuck it down.
I also added a small torn scrap of sticky note in order to extend that land mass of the design.
The crashing wave stamp was then used to make an impression and also a mask. The mask was so that I could stamp out a second wave behind the first.
Masking off the lower third of the design with another sticky note I blended over some Tim Holtz Distress ink.
Heading up to the sky I masked off the sea and then tore some strips of stick note which I then blended the ink over.
I started at the top so that with each successive layer the top of the sky would darken.
To check the design I removed all masking strips other than the ‘land’ and lighthouse.
Looks good so far.
Time to get cracking with the colouring pencils – nothing fancy, just a pack of 36 from WHSmith.
Is started by darkening the sea down with some blue/green and blue-green pencils. Once that was done I peeled off the remaining masks.
I won’t take you through all of the steps for colouring but can show you what it turned out like.
A white gel pen was used to add some sea spray and wave cap detail.
That, my lovelies, I think was that.
Not bad eh? Quite impressed with that myself :)
To secure everything and make sure that the Distress Inks weren’t affected by water in the future I applied some Distress Glaze.
To get the background I started out by rummaging through the paperstack and almost immediately came across this weathered stripes paper.
It even had the colours that were in the main design so I though that it would be perfect!
I stamped over this with the wave design and then layered the whole thing up with black cardstock.
To finish I created a sentiment badge with offcut strips of cardstock and the ‘Smooth Sea’ sentiment from the sheet.

Ooh more loveliness. I actually like some of the stages as a finished piece in themselves…ooh might do this and hang as a collection!

I love it, love it, love it I can but hope to become as skilled with my colouring as you are. Thanks for the tip off about Distress Glaze, I somehow haven’t stumbled upon that yet. I think I may use your image 17 as a screen saver to inspire in my endeavour to improve my skill level. Thanks for sharing your awesomeness with us :) x
