All Counties Craft Challenge Diary - Aberdeen Papeterie

All Counties Craft Challenge Diary – Blowing A Gale, A Four Letter Word and A Crime Scene

Well hello there my dear reader. Yes, I have a second diary post for you today.

This one is all about the recent visit that Maisy and I made to Papeterie in Aberdeen.

Having completed our workshop in Glasgow we made the drive up the next morning to Aberdeen, I specific, Stonehaven.

When Maisy and I arrived, the winds had got up, the rain had started and the clouds had gathered.

*happy sigh* Lovely British weather :)

Normally I wouldn’t include weather photos in blog posts but I was so chuffed with some of the pictures that I took, that I just had to. Yes, I went out in the wind and rain to take photos of rain and clouds – call me weird, but take a look at these …

Ok, so I’m weird, but at least I was warm.

Lol! Snug as a bug!

Even found some cool metal work on the walk in the ‘fresh’ air. Look!

I’ll be honest, I really enjoyed a heart warming dinner after that wee stroll.

Yum!

Even tried some Lorn. A Scottish square flat sausage meat type of thing. Quite liked it :)

The rain and thundering waves continued through most of the night – oddly I had the best night’s sleep that I had experienced in a while … lol, go figure :)

Anyway, next morning it was off back through the rain to the Papetiere store in Aberdeen to meet Debbie.

Debbie had done a lovely job of setting up the classroom so that we could all walk in and be warm and well fed. Thank you!

This workshop was focused on mixed media canvas work.

I came up with a simple concept of using basic materials to make a four letter word design.

Yes, there was one naughty one, haha!

Anyway, thought I’d share a few pics of the one that I made.

Heres a few snaps …

Really enjoyed making this one.

The ladies seemed to enjoy playing and getting messy too …

Due to the rain, and the car park being a little walk away, Maisy didn’t make it into this week’s workshop group photo … but these cheeky monkeys did!

Had a quick browse of the store before I left and came across this … !

Not sure which creative product they were fighting over but I think one of them won’t be needing their craft supplies anymore … !

Time again to pack up and head of for the next workshop in Clackmannan.

Please don’t forget that I am doing this tour I order to raise awareness of mental health issues and to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity.

If you would like to contribute and help me reach that £20k target you can do so in three ways.

  1. Make donation on my Just Giving page.
  2. Make a donation via the Create & Craft TV website, for an additional P&P charge of £2.99 you will also be sent an official challenge postcard colouring book.
  3. Attend a workshop. To find out if there is one coming up near you, please visit the itinerary page on this blog.

Thanks for reading and I’ll catch you later for more from the All Counties Challenge Diary.

Bye for now.

J :)

  1. Had a brilliant day in your company John at Papetrie and some laughs about choice of words chosen for canvas. Your photos from Stonehaven are stunning. Hope to see you again sometime in Scotland, you are doing a grand job.x

  2. Stunning photos John, I was trying to work out if the seascapes were au naturel or photoshopped but then I saw your comment above about the HDR emphasis, even so, some impressive photography:)

  3. Hey John

Wow, another awesome workshop space, what is it about Scotland and top notch crafty facilities? Love a little HDR play, though the only pictures I take are of the dog or views from either the back or front of the house! Have to say the ones you took are utterly stunning, those clouds look three dimensional. I love em!

Take care, stay warm & make sure Maisie gets a good service and an anti freeze top up before the winter. It’s getting colder!

    Big hugs, T x

  4. Two in one day, I told you this morning it was a good day. Love the photos of the beach etc. When I lived in a caravan, I always slept better when it was wild outside, I think it’s because you’re all warm and cosy inside. x

  5. I lived in Scotland for a while and love Lorne sausage – never had it looking quite so posh as in your photo though! Yorkshire puddings with spiralized zucchini? (Lived in California for a while too so use a few Americanisms now and again ;) )

Your photos of the weather are wonderful, do you use a fancy camera or is it your phone?
