Question: Why are pirates called pirates?
Answer: Because they arrrrrrrrr!
LOL! Yes, it’s this awful joke (yet still one of my favourites) that inspired today’s ATC.
This creation started out by creating the background.
First I used the All Aboard Map stamp from docrafts Urban Stamp range together with some vintage sepia Versafine ink to stamp onto white Neenah cardstock.
I then brushed over some Rust coloured Adirondack Earthtones ink. I then applied water and scrunched up the piece of card. After unfolding it I lightly brushed over some Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink to pick out the raised creases.
I sprayed some more water onto it to soften the distress ink and to help flatten out the piece of card.
I then folded it on the horizontal and vertical axis and burnt the edges a little with a lighter. Some ink (Espresso coloured Adirondack Earthtones inkpad) to the creases.
After flattening it out a little I then brushed the edges with more ink to darken them down and also added a little gold glitter glue to give the edge a little sparkle.
For the X (marking the spot) I cut some strips of red cardstock and glued them to some black cardstock and then roughly cut these out.
I applied the map to the black ATC sized piece of card using Pinflair glue gel (in order to keep some of it’s shape) and then used the same glue to apply the X.
To finish I used a some ready made toppers (the skull and swords) along with some Anita’s mini gems.
There we have it – an ATC inspired by a joke. Have you got any pirate based jokes that you want to share – I need a laugh…

Wow This is terrific. My Grandson would love it. I hope you don’t mind if I pinch some ideas from this for his birthday card coming up soon. I have a joke but it sounds like there is a swear word in it, even tho’ there isn’t, so I better not post it.

Wonderful! You are brave setting fire to the corners but the result is brilliant. I am off to set fire to a map!!! I have an IndigoBlu ordnance survey background stamp which is in my stash and not been used yet-I have rather a large collection of stamps lying unused in my crafty stash. Your little works of art have spurred me on to set them free.
