Day 25 – 30 Days Of Card Making
Well, literally nothing on this card turned out the way that it had originally been planned however as I set out on this challenge to just make things, rather than apply perfectionist principles, here it is.
Regular readers of this blog will know why I am doing this mini challenge in order to reunite my mojo with my craft space. To follow the full journey, you can find all related post in the 30 Days Of Card Making archive.
Ok, on with today’s creation.
Some inky play started off the background. It had been planned to have a very different feel, something more muted, but it turned out quite loud and blotchy.
Dye ink was then used to stamp a swirly design over the background. It had been planned to be bolder, but it didn’t turn out that way.
As a result of the above, it was decided to chop down into panels rather than use as one big piece.
The card was going to be landscape however after stamping the sentiment it didn’t really fit across the width of the card so instead this was mounted onto black cardstock and a piece of self-adhesive foam and stuck to the front of the card.
It went on wonky, after trying to remove it and reposition it, it seemed impossible to get straight so went back on even wonkier.
To balance that, a few die cuts from the off cuts of coloured/stamped cardstock were used to make some small blooms.
So, even when literally everything goes wrong, “we” can still come up with something. That’s good sign, I guess.

Hi John, you’ve heard the saying that things don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful, well this card is beautiful. I often end up with wonky on my cards, it used to bug me at the start, but now I’ve learned to accept that things often have a habit of going their own way and not to get all stressed out about it. Kath x

Oh John,you have really made me chuckle reading this, which is great because I was about to throw my phone/Mac/ photo storage thingy at the walls not to mention hubby! I love this card, my favourite colours too and the black really makes everything pop! And wonky works so well on it! FAB!!!!

There’s a word for when happy accidents occur – serendipity. I think this card is absolutely beautiful. You’ve used my favourite colours and the black really makes them pop. I think that the slightly off kilter sentiment also works exceedingly well and helps to break up the other straight lines of the background. All in all a gorgeous card that I would be justifiably proud of and so should you “3”! X
