Today’s ATC was a total experiment with no particular theme.
It started with a large format rubber stamp from a recent batch that I received from Impression Obsession, an American company.
The stamp is called Gradation and is made up of a series of dots that range in intensity and density from top to bottom – giving a graduated effect (well named I think you’ll agree).
I first stamped this design out with a blue pigment ink and then coated in clear embossing powder and heat set it.
I then applied some bright pink distress ink over the top of this and sprayed with water so that the ink sank down into the spaces between the dots.
A very thin layer of Diamond Glaze was then applied over the top and allowed to dry.
The finished result looked a little like alien skin, that had been plucked!
However I loved the bright contrast between colours and the abstract dot pattern – think I may use this technique and colour combo for a larger card in the near future.
I will be definitely be collecting the rest of this range of stamps and already have more on order!
To finish I used a little organza ribbon, a painted wooden button and a dazzle gem to add a little unique topping.

Pop “impression obsession uk” into search engine. There are a very decent number of uk sellers on top of the ones listed on impression obsessions website (io.com)
Problem is, as I looked around the pages I found myself mumbling “need, need, need…”!

I really love it, both the colours and the detailing. It’s very striking! Also, I have never thought of putting distress ink over embossing, so I’m going to try it in the morning!!!

I like :) the bright colours look amazing. I had to look hard at the picture at first as on my screen the ribbon and embellishment looked like they were cut outs that had been glued on flat! Wow, that hurt my head for a second or two!
Re impression Obsession. On my travels round various crafty websites I have come across this brand, sure of it. Just don’t remember which ones! I spend a lot of time trawling for best prices etc so when I see uk shops that sell them I shall post.

What a fun ATC ! Great stamp. Beautiful colours. I love colours but am always afraid to use them and stick to either monochrome or neutrals but am improving a bit after seeing your page where you coloured in the bugs. I’ve bought the book and am practicing Thanks for all the info on your methods too. I’ve never heard of diamond glaze. Is it similar to glossy accents? The button is just right for the project. Did you decorate that too? Thanks again. X

I don’t know why I find colour so difficult these days. Never used to. I’m the same with clothes. Everything in my wardrobe is black, white or grey. Very boring but safe! Help! X

Hi John, just looked on the Impressions site and agree there’s some ‘must have’ stamps! Could I please ask if the postage is reasonable from the U.S?

I believe that the default amount for smaller orders is $23.50 (about £15) which may cover up to about 5 of the stamps but do bear in mind that you will also pay £8 import charges and a handling fee from the post office which varies depending on the value of the package.

Love it! The bright colors remind me of a few of the trees in blossom here right now (Salem, Oregon, USA). Honest, a tree with the same bright pink….a real stunner!
