So today’s little creation was one of my personal favourites!
(Don’t ask me why, I just love it).
The concept was simple and the process strangely relaxing. Perhaps this was why I liked it so much.
For this ATC I reached for my quilling kit. I already had in mind that I wanted to do a flower of some sort but wanted to add a little spin to it.
I began by forming the petals first. For the black outline I used a long strip of black quilling paper and wrapped this around the handle of a paint brush and secured it with a dot of PVA glue.
The centres were formed with hot pink paper quilling strip which I formed with the normal quilling tool and then dropped into the centre of the black outline. Once it had “unsprung” I used a dot of PVA glue on the back to hold it in place.
This was then repeated for each of the petals.
The centre was formed in a similar way however I used a tighter central coil and then pushed this down to form a bowl shape which I filled with glitter glue and glossy accents.
For the background I used a stamp from Clearly Besotted stamps to stamp out the stalk of the flower onto cream cardstock. I coloured in the leaves with some Spectrum Noir pens and then layered onto some light green and dark green cardstock.
To finish I used a big blob of Pinflair glue gel and then inserted the petals and the centre piece into that and let it dry.
Not so quick, but very relaxing.

This looks great John – am I right that the shadows ARE actual shadows and you haven’t coloured them in? Quilling is a technique I’ve never tried but this has amazing dimension so will definitely give it a go! Love the glossy and glitzy flower centre too. Can’t believe this is day 50 … I’m really enjoying all the inspiration – thank you x

Fab project John. You are braver than me. I’ve been wanting to attempt quilling for over 18 months now- bought the tools, board and paper strips and have’t been brave enough to attempt! Your post makes it appear effortless – is it really as easy as you make it appear? I hope so, because then I may have to try and conquer my fear.
