Artist Trading Card Daily – 44

This voyage through artist trading cards has been a bit of a discovery – both in terms of the multitude of techniques that could be used and the range of materials that could be incorporated.

This ATC is therefore dedicated to the theme of discovery.

Artist Trading Card Daily - 44.3

In the February issue of Making Cards magazine there was a selection of free papers with beautiful designs. As I was leafing through these I came across an image that I thought would sum up the theme well.

I chopped it out with the guillotine and then layered it onto cardstock; also adding a layer of the matching patterned paper that also came in the free set.

To add a little dimension I used some paper punches to crop out some flowers from the papers and matching cardstock. I then used my flower forming set from Tonic Studios to raise the petals a little and stuck a gem in the centre of each.

A Martha Stewart leaf punch was used to punch out a few pieces of green cardstock which I then applied to the ATC. The flowers were then arranged over these leaves to create a focal design in the bottom left corner.

Once this was done I discovered that it needed no more work!

I wonder what he was thinking when he spotted the little bird on the branch … ?

  1. Love the old fashioned look – harking to a time when things were much simpler than today. The flowers in the left hand corner just finish this off nicely …. what a lovely arrangement and the colours mirror the bunch of flowers the boy is holding beautifully. Well done as always John! x

  3. A beautiful card John and the colours too, I still am unable to get into the Scan N Cut Canvas and nothing from Brother either so none too impressed with that at all.

  4. A delightful “old fashioned” feel to this. The image reminds me of story books I had as A child in the 1940’s. Very gentle and lovely , John, thank you.
