Create Inspire Enjoy Artist Trading Card by John Bloodworth Gentleman Crafter (1)

Create Inspire Enjoy

If there is one constant over the last few years it is the never ending cycle of creating, inspiring and enjoying arts and crafts with like minded people.

Whether creating, being inspired or enjoying any kind of creativity, I hope that you will agree that this little foray into mixed media will sum up the story well.

I started it with a blank artist trading card that I gave a coat of white gesso.

Once dried I applied a swipe of Pebeo Modelling Paste through a stencil and left it to dry.

This was then coated with some pink coloured watercolour paint, dried and then a scuffing of red wax paste was brushed over.

A metallic marker was then drawn down the edges and smudged with my finger to create the metallic edges.

I then used a glue gun to apply some black twine, metal cogs and finally a laser cut paper butterfly which I had also coated with the metallic pen.

I was going to add the words ‘create, inspire, enjoy’ but I actually thought that this was fine as it was.

Can you see the reasoning behind each element in terms of the sentiment?

  1. Great Mixed Media project, I love that you do this on a Artist Trading card. sometimes I have an idea to make but it isn’t big enough to make it on a page or canvas, to make it on a ATC is great. Thank you so much for this gorgeous inspiration John.
