Hello again! So, continuing on with the Artist Trading Card creations and for today’s make I thought that I would have a go at creating something with a little dimension.
No extra special tools required for this one. Just the regular quilling tool, board and a spot of glue.
I started out by picking a few coloured strips that coordinated with the backing paper that would form one of the layers in the background.
After creating the background I began quilling tight coils.
I made lots in black, using different lengths of paper to give me different sized circles. These went on to create the thorax of the butterfly. I did two layers to build some dimension in.
For the biggest of the coils I started with one colour and wrapped until the end, then glued on another colour and continued to coil until I had the right size and had worked through the different colours. I did a final wrap with a short length of black to give it a border to match the thorax.
The smaller colour-core coils (not easy to say when drunk) where made with single colours and shorter strips.
All of the coils on the lower layer were fixed in place with PVA glue and those on the upper layer were put in place with Pinflair glue gel in order that they could stay raised off the sheet.
The resin flowers, which I chose again because they matched the background colours, were applied with PVA glue.
Again, no sentiment, rhyme or reason. Another just because creation that turned out nice again.
I hope you liked this little foray into fluttery fun :)
