Artist Trading Card Daily – 15

Now, I know that Mother’s Day is still some way off (for us in the UK) however there’s always time to celebrate Motherhood and that’s what today’s Artist Trading Card daily is about.

Artist Trading Card Daily - 15

There were lots of elements that went into this one so I’ll try and be concise.

The background was made using a Doodle Flowers Cover-A-Card stamp from Impression Obsessions. I stamped this out using black Versafine ink and then coloured it using Zig Art & Graphic Twin pens which I spritzed lightly with water and allowed to dry.

This was then cropped down and layered onto a single layer of blue cardstock that coordinated with the background colour.

The butterflies were created using an EK Success multi punch (which gives a solid outline as well as a detailed version of the same design). These were glue together along the thorax and the wings tweaked into a raised position.

The cut out word was designed by me and cut out on the Brother Scan N Cut (download links further down this post).

To finish I also created a sentiment panel from light blue and white cardstock (so that the sentiment would stand out from the background).

And there we have it, another ATC for the collection – gooooo mothers!!!

If you would like the word sentiment you can download this version for free via one of the following two links (you’ll need to right-click on the links and “Save Target As…” or “Save File As …” in order to save it to your computer).

I hope that you like it and that it may inspire you to have a go at these manageable mini makes.

  1. Enter your comment here…Appreciated. I still have some issues unzipping a file properly and selecting the right format. It’s more like ‘plug and pray’ than plug and play. There is still an element of luck whether I can successfully upload and download files. Your efforts are appreciated. Keep it coming!!!

  2. John, love your cards – my little craft class have made several of them. BUT – could I please ask that you do more of the video’s for the ScanNcut. canvas. There are so many of us that just need the kind of help you give. Many thanks. Rosemary

  3. Very striking! Just mount onto some plain matting and layering and hey presto, a great card. These ATC’ s make great toppers!
John I will try to get to grips with the cutting file because yesterday I managed to cut out some butterflies using the Bother machine!!

  4. Oh John, this is beautiful and very poignant for me. I actually lost my mum on Mother’s Day night back in 2007 (almost 6 months to the day after I lost my dad) so anything to do with ‘mother’ or ‘father’ plucks at my heart strings. Also, you have butterflies you sweet boy. x
