More Secret Cats Being Let Out Of Not So Secret Bags and Going On Your Not Secret Telly – Part 3

In the final part of this series of posts, intended to announce the launch of the new Delightful Sentiments Cut Foil and Emboss dies, I decided to focus on one particular die and give you an idea for using it outside of papercrafts.

So, let’s dig in.

The die that I used was the ‘Fabulous!’ sentiment.

On a recent exploration of my new home town I did come across a craft shop – phew! – and picked up a wooden handbag, as you do.

To start this project I removed the brass hardware.

I then gave it a coat of a beautiful metallic berry/cherry colour.

I deliberately didn’t prime it with gesso first so that the colour would stain and the metallic component would then sit on top, causing it to look streaked.

A neat trick, even if I do say so myself.

Next step involved masking off the handle and painting this with turquoise acrylic paint and then the application of a metallic turquoise paint on top.

I then gave it a coat of Mod Podge glaze in order to seal the paint and wood surface.

Looking swish already!

Next job, die cut a whole bunch of Fabulous!

Love how the impression of the word is pressed into the cardstock.

I glued one of the die cuts onto the handbag with Mod Podge.

Then, added a whole load more.

These were trimmed to the edge of the box and I then coated in the same cherry/berry paint and allowed it to dry.

Next, I dry brushed on some of the turquoise metallic paint to pick out the edges.

Finally, I foiled and die cut some turquoise card stock with the sentiment and glued this onto the central Fabulous! and added some faux gems.

The brass hardware was then added back onto the box.

Done!

Pretty chuffed with how that turned out.

What do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
