Fancy seeing what I’ve been getting up to with the CoLiDo 3D printer this week?
Well, it really has been a bit random this week as I’ve been prepping for Saturday’s show at 4pm on Create and Craft TV which will feature the CoLiDo range of products and has a Christmas theme to it. I know, Christmas in June – don’t ask, I’ve done Christmas February to November for the last 15 years LOL!
On top of this I’ve also been trying to gets lots of things finished and sent. Needless to say that I’ve not achieved this yet. Hey ho and on we go.
With the ‘c’ word in mind I thought that it would be cool to try and create some decs for the tree that I don’t own yet.
Here goes …
I’ll be printing a second on of these, slotting them together and then hanging that beaut on the tree. Maybe some Flower Soft or spray glitter for a simple frosty look? What would you do with it?
Hmmm, what about ‘c’ cards or cracker gifts?
Well, I had a rummage around the internet and found a printable file for a cool moose head DIY kit – look how cool this is!
Wouldn’t that be a fun thing to do on Christmas day?
But what would it look like made up and mounted on a card?
Blooming gentlemanly, that’s what!
Doesn’t he look dapper with his polka dot dickie? ;)
FYI, the box frame by the way was made with my new Adorable Scoreboard from Hunkydory – love that thing! :)
Hmmm, need a sentiment for ‘c’ cards now. Having designed one in Photoshop using a lovely swichy font I imported this to Microsoft 3D builder and adjusted to the dimensions that I guessed would work well.
Here is what came out …
Damn I love this thing!
I also printed a circular frame as I already had in mind what I wanted to do with this.
Here are a few of the steps.
After cutting some layers from cardstock, and then die cutting successive circular frames in the middle I stuck them together and did some corner curling – it’s a ‘thing’ apparently.
Top tip there by the way, use your reverse action tweezers to clamp the curled paper down while the glue dries.
White gel pen next for a thin border.
Sticky notes for masks next as I am about to whip out a stippler.
A little distress ink to add a little shading to the corner for a faux layer.
Masks whipped off …
Time to attach the circular frame that I had printed. Pinflair glue gel for this and a large acrylic block to hold it in place while drying.
On goes the sentiment …
… and then a ‘few’ die cuts to finish.
Going to be honest. Everyone now and then I make something that I am genuinely proud of. This is one of those things. Everything just seems to have ‘worked’.
Oh, forgot to mention. You may have noticed that my tittle fell off.
For those unsure if I am being rude or not, I’m not – for a change.
A tittle is the official word for the dot above the lower case i or j.
Not to worry though, I did find it later on hiding under the laptop so I will try and remember to attach it again soon.
Right, that about sums up this week’s 3D Thursday. Hope you have enjoyed it and it has given you food for thought.
Ok, I’m off – ciao for now my lovelies and I will see you again soon.
