New for ’22

With a whole new year comes a whole new year of blog content, videos, downloads and more and it all starts tomorrow morning bright and early. There’s even the opportunity to take part if you fancy.

Want to know what’s coming up … ? Then read on dear chum.

Daily Blog Content, Yes, Daily!

Yeesh, that was a bold statement but yes, I am planning on 365 days of blogging, vlogging and all sorts of other content creation. It’s a big challenge but I’m up for it.

The “stuff” will be made up of a range of genres and feature a whole bunch of free stuff too.

Here’s what is coming up in 2022.

Monday – The ATC of Mindfulness

With ATC being a play on words for A to Z, I think gives you a clue as to where this one is going.

To put it in simpler terms, every Monday I will be releasing an Artist Trading Card design that you can download, print and colour while taking time to be in the moment and chill out.

In time, you will find all of these collected together in the category archive here.

Tuesday – Random Stuff

Lol, no but seriously, I’ve saved Tuesday for random things like announcements, general chat and other non serialised content so, it will be a surprise to us all, LOL!

Why Tuesday?

Why not.

Wednesdays – Explorations in Mixed Media

A long long time ago in a land far far away, well, one country down and right a bit, I used to do a lot of mixed-media for my own personal enjoyment. This also formed a fair part of my formal creative education.

In professional terms I have been involved in the launch of gel-plates and many other mixed media ranges in the UK and subsequently did a lot of in-person classes teaching how to use these amazingly creative products.

Having been re-inspired over the last year, via random wanderings on the internet, I shall be doing a weekly video featuring a variety of awesome mixed-media techniques. I could just end up making a mess, but that will be part of the fun, hopefully.

These will be slightly longer form videos as I would like the opportunity to go a little more in-depth with the explanations and hopefully help those of you that are interested too.

As these posts and videos progress, you will be able to find them all in the category archive here.

Thursday – Card Sketch Challenge 2022!

Last year I managed to create and release 100 card sketches along with an example card. That was some feat!

Anyhoo, a bunch of you – well, more than two so I’m going with that meaning everyone – said that you’d be interested in playing along, which I thought was a lovely idea so every Thursday I will be posting a card sketch with an example card.

You can choose to totally ignore these, download them for use later on or, for a bit of fun, create your own card from the sketch and share your results with other challengees via a New Facebook group which I will tell you more about on Thursday 6th January when I publish the first sketch.

It’s up to you.

As this collection builds throughout the year, you will be able to find them all in the category archive here.

Friday – Fun with Foundation Paper Piecing

I made a – failed – attempt at bringing more fabric crafts to this blog last year and was so disappointed that I couldn’t grow it into something more as sewing is probably one of the things that I have been doing the longest and love the most.

On this basis I made a resolution that this year would be different and so I have set myself a goal of making and creating a series of weekly blog posts featuring Foundation Paper Piecing.

In these posts I will not only be sharing my progress and creations but I will also be sharing a free pattern and template set each week and coupling this with a video on how it gets put together so if you fancy, you can play too. No Facebook group for this one though.

If coming back to this in the future, you will be able to find all of these in the category archive here.

Saturday – Scan N Cut Saturday

The regular weekly Saturday slot for Scan N Cut tips, hacks and ideas is back.

I have many things planned for this including project ideas, tips and hacks along with the potential for video answers to questions from my Scan N Cut Facebook Group.

Basically, if you’ve got a Brother Scan N Cut, you need to pop by each week for some awesome info.

These posts will go into the existing category on this blog and so you can find all new and old content in the category archive here.

Sunday – Adventures in Machine Embroidery

Over the last couple of years you have been witness to my growing fascination and skills at machine embroidery and I am so pleased to be able to now turn this into a weekly ideas and inspiration series.

As part of this I will also be stepping up instructional videos for the Hatch Embroidery Digitizing Software.

All old blog posts will be moved into this new category and all new content added to it. You will therefore be able to find all of the posts in the category archive here.

More SVG Cutting Files Than You Can Shake A Scan N Cut (or Cricut or Silhouette) Cutting Machine At!

For those that look to me for SVG cutting files, don’t worry, I’ve (still) got you covered.

Creative Fabrica Store

I will be “downsizing” my release schedule for the store in favour of my Creative Fabrica Fans page however you will still see a new file set each month. These will most likely be quite random in theme and style but hopefully they will appeal.

One thing is for sure, you will still be getting the same quality and attention to detail.

If you’ve not visited my store already then please do pop over to Creative Fabrica and take a gander today.

Creative Fabrica Fans Page

As per last year, there will be a brand new download available every single Monday throughout 2022.

I will be changing up what gets released when a little though. Here’s the low down on that.

  • The first Monday of the month will see a creative card style in the form of an SVG cutting file set. This could be anything from shaped cards to kinetic cards. Either way they will build into a nice wee library of card styles for you to call on in times of creative need.
  • The second Monday will still feature a printable paper set. As ever, each pattern release will be available in 101 colours, two sizes and two file formats so you are sure to be able to use them somehow, sometime.
  • The third Monday of the month will see the release of the “Subscriber Selection” which is an SVG project set as voted for by subscribers of the page. This set always includes a tutorial video too so it’s great for those wanting a mini craft-along.
  • The fourth Monday will include a themed pack of SVG cutting files. Think of these as a pick ‘n’ mix bag of embellishments or general goodies that you can incorporate into other projects.
  • In months that contain more than four Monday’s (because sadly there are some), subscribers will receive a cheeky wee bonus too!

Want to subscribe and download all of these goodies? Just head over to my Creative Fabrica Fans page and join today.

Never Miss A Trick!

Phew, that’s a lot, right?!

Don’t worry, I’ve written a list. To be honest it went beyond the stylish notepad (together with random plant called George) in the image above. It actually now spans an eleven page Excel spreadsheet detailing all 365 days in multiple ways, together with ancillary lists and appendices.

Anyhoo, I hope that there will be something of interest for you in that lot. If not, it’s probably time for us to part ways. For those that are interested, please consider signing up to my newsletter email list – that way you will get a monthly reminder of new content.

Right, I’d best go for a lay down before this all kicks off. Look forward to seeing you all bright and early tomorrow!

  2. John,
You have exhausted me already with your “2022 To Do List”.
This is so exciting and my 2022 resolution is to set aside extra time for your blogs, a new 3 ring binder, lots of hard drive space for your designs and, of course, play time with my SNC
Thank you for sharing your many talents.

  3. All I can say is WOW! WOW! WOW! When are you going to have time to take care of yourself? I do love that your adding mixed media and the foundation paper piecing. I love both of those but usually don’t have the time to do them. Maybe I’ll have to make a resolution (I never do) to add them in this year. You’re going to be one busy man. Thank you so much for all of this.

  4. Brilliant! Mixed Media and Foundation paper piecing! 😊😊😊 I bought my granddaughter gel plate as part of her Christmas pressie, so will be dusting off my own ones ready to join in on a bit of mixed media. Santa brought me mica powders so hoping a bit of shine will be in there too. And haven’t done any FPP since I made a bed quilt in it way back and swore Never Again, so obviously time has come to get the paper out again…

  5. Crikey John, that’s a lot – you have been busy. Exciting though, when you start with a (short) list which just grows and grows once your little grey cells start firing. Looking forward to this – I might have a rest today too in prep, with the last of Christmas chocs of course before decorations down and ready to learn lots in 2022. Happy New Year John and take care.

  8. Hi John

Happy new year! I remember your mixed media demos well and they were excellent so the public is in for a treat. The FPP is something I’ve never got into fully but it seems like a not too overwhelming project to try out.

    Best wishes, T x
