Card Layout 60

Who remembers mix tapes?! Going funky and retro today with this birthday card.

It features a cassette tape in bright and bold colours!

Here’s the card that was inspired by the layout.

If you want the sketch, just right click on the image below and choose “save as…” or “save image as…” and store it in a folder on your computer or print it out to save offline.

FYI, there are two parts to the design this week as I couldn’t fit all of the dimensions on the main layout so make sure to download both!

By the way, if you like the look of the SVG cutting file set that I used for the cassette tape in the video, please do check out this blog post.

  1. Hi John

Awww, a welcome trip down memory lane! Like Natalie I sat with a cassette recorder on a Sunday, all cued up with play and record ready and my finger hovering over the pause button in order to record the songs with as little talking in between at possible from those cheesy radio 1 DJs and yes, the lyrics in “Smash Hits” provided that little bit more authenticity while singing along into the hairbrush… Before we even experienced a karaoke! 😂🤣😂🤣😂 I’ve still some of my cassettes, occasionally play them in the spare room where the only cassette player is! Last mixtape I made was for Mister 😍 It’s given me the idea I should make him another but on CD this time- or should that be on USB? 🤷‍♀️ technology has moved on a lot since we got together!

A great reminder, thanks John 👍😁

    Hugs, T x

  2. Wow John 60th (!!) layout unbelieveble and so awesome. I love them all and planned another few to make, papers are already on my desk.
This one was a bit of memory lane, I had (still have some) tapes with a lot of different kind of music on them but never send one to someone.
I love your card and I’m glad you chose the bright coloured casette, that was my choice too.
Thank you so much John for all these outstanding layouts, sample cards and videos for this awesome series. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.

  3. Love this card John! We used to tape songs we liked from the charts on a Sunday with a copy of Smash Hits on hand for the lyrics. Duran Duran would *always* make an appearance on my mix tapes.
