Brother Scan N Cut DX 1200

It’s Heeeerrrre – Brother Scan N Cut DX Launches In The UK Tomorrow

Having launched in other regions of the world earlier this year it’s been much awaited, debated and talked about amongst Scan N Cut owners and it’s finally hitting the UK tomorrow!

There are a whole bunch of changes in the DX models but rather than running through them again here, I’d like to encourage you to take a look at this blog post where I shared details of those differences, plus preview videos and a bunch of useful links.

Brother Scan N Cut DX 1200As a quick recap, some of the key differences are:

  • It is bigger. A bigger machine, a bigger screen and bigger memory.
  • It cuts thicker stuff, up to 3mm thick.
  • It cuts more stuff at once, an increase from 600 to 900 objects in one operation.
  • It is quieter.
  • It has auto blade depth features.
  • The design boasts both a new platform and onboard storage.
  • More designs. 1302 built-in patterns with 17 characters sets. New designs include a single line character set that can be drawn or embossed, 3D boxes and flowers, doilies and applique designs. You can see the full pattern list here.

Create and Craft TV have told me that it will retail at £599 with free delivery. Club members will obviously get their 10% discount and you’ll earn some Maker Rewards on the purchase too unless you’d like to use your points against the purchase.

In the box, you’ll also get a bunch of accessories, including:

  • Low tack adhesive mat / Standard tack adhesive mat
  • Automatic blade / Automatic blade holder
  • Thin fabric auto blade / Thin fabric auto blade holder
  • Pen holder
  • Colour pen set
  • Erasable pen set
  • 1 contact sheet for application of fabric through the iron
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 accessories bag

Create and Craft TV are also going to be chucking in over £100 worth of freebies with this introductory offer. This will include:

  • A free 12″ x 12″ Adhesive Mat.
  • 10 sheets of 12″ x 24″ Construction Board
  • £50 worth of exclusive SVG files.

Anyhoo, if this is something that interests you, I would encourage you to tune in to the launch show at midday, tomorrow, Friday 30th November on Create and Craft TV.

Will have to save a few more pennies before I can get one into my craft room though but eventually, I’ll have more to report.

Right, thanks for reading and I’ll catch you again soon.

Bye for now.

J :)

  1. Hi John – thanks for your review of the new scan n cut machine. When they first came out a few years ago I immediately bought one and was so happy with it I bought another and still use them each time I craft but now I’m being really tempted to get this new one even though mine are brilliant for my humble needs. HELP!!! Question for you – Can all the USBs that were bought from C&C be used in the New Machine? Looking forward to seeing you again at your Scan n Cut workshop in December. Liz X

  2. My main worry is still whether I and many other crafters like me will be able to buy mats etc. I have the CM900 which is less than a year old and I don’t want to change to the new machine. Brother should be up-front about this rather than cause us potential problems.

  3. No, not another new machine. I for one, can’t afford it, and don’t really want it. There would have to be big differences from the old one to tempt me this time. I have read quite a bit about it, but I like my CM900, and will be sticking with it for now. Also, space is a factor, I don’t really want a bigger machine. However, who knows in a year or so. I didn’t think Brother were going to bring new machines out….? Morning John, how are you? xx

  4. Hmmm yes there are a few interesting things on the new machine. However, I conclude that it’s probably better to wait a while and see what others think and also wait for special deals before considering an upgrade. The new mats are a worry. It sounds like they have made the machine so you can’t use any other brand of mat. That is an important thing with me as I didn’t love my Scan n cut until I used another brand of mat as I spent more time re sticking and ‘re doing projects because the mat lost it’s stick SO quickly.
They should flaming well give you a machine as you are a huge ambassador of the scan n cut! – Come on Brother give one to John! X

  5. Thank you John – I 💜 my CM900, so will not be looking seriously at purchasing the new machine for sometime yet. Although I will be watching the launch shows with interest. Not so sure I like the auto blade setting function, but that’s because I’m a control freak (I have not set up wi-fi on my 900, so I can control when it updates 😄) and am a little disappointed that despite the cutting depth being increased it does not seem as though this will actually change what we can cut much. Anyway – I look forward to seeing the new machine and will no doubt be trying to persuade hubby that he DOES want to buy it for me for Christmas 🤣.
