With many big pride events happening around the country during the summer, it seemed daft that I didn’t make something to give a nod in the direction of the rainbow, so I thought I’d go all out and make something fabulous, darlink!
It actually started out whilst I was making breakfast on a Sunday morning.
Whilst the Lorne was sizzling away in the pan I started a batch of foiling with me GoPress gadget.
Oh, forgot to mention that I was going to be doing some teabag folding – haven’t done that in yonks and I thought that it would work well with loads of different colours.
For that reason, I chose to foil onto some copy paper.
Now, you may have realised that your actual ROY G BIV (colours of the rainbow) is seven and the current pride flag only has six.
Well, I had eight colours to choose because of the teabag folding so I chose to work with the original pride flag design which had eight colours, each of which had a meaning.
- Hot Pink = Sex
- Red = Life
- Orange = Healing
- Yellow = Sunlight
- Green = Nature
- Turquoise = Magic/Art
- Indigo = Serenity
- Violet = Spirit
Such a shame that the hot pink and turquoise colours, the sex and the magic, were dropped, but did you know we have lamp posts in San Fransisco and a shortage of hot pink fabric in 1978/9 to blame?
Anyhoo, history lesson over and it’s on with the card.
Having deftly trimmed and folded me squares of foiled paper I then chopped out a black mat with the Scan N Cut. Hands a bit shakey this weekend so thought it best as I’ve got to send this off to a magazine.
As I had fired up the Scan N Cut I also created a text topper that I then drew and cut via the machine.
By the way, if you’ve got a Scan N Cut, you can click here to download this cutting file for free.
Bog standard PVA was used to pop those pieces together.
Then it was out with the foam pads for a bit of oomph to the sentiment panel.
And bish bash bosh, job done.
Fancy a closer look? ‘ere ya go…
Chuffed with that. What do you think? Nice huh? Fascinating about the flag thing too!
Anyhoo, thanks for stopping by but the workload is pretty full on this week with cards to make for the TV, designs to submit for some exciting new products and more videos to record for the online Scan N Cut course. Phew, bushed just listing it!
Whatever you are doing, enjoy it!
Much love.
J :)
