During the sell-out run of UK based Brother Scan N Cut workshops, AND the additional bookings for the more advanced workshops AND a request to host a workshop in South Africa, Australia and the United States, it has become evident that I am not physically capable of conducting workshops in every location that has been requested, especially given that many of you guys & gals live in all corners of the world!

I have therefore been using my ‘spare time’ over the last few months to develop, record, edit and upload an online course that you can enjoy at your own pace and in your own home that replicates and expands on the content of the workshops that I have been hosting.

Had a fair few questions from various sources so thought I’d pop them here with answers.

  1. What is the price of the course? I have priced it at £29.99 however as many of you saw during the launch weekend Udemy sometimes has a sale on where they offer the courses on their site for less. I don’t control when these happen so if you see it at a lower price, grab it!
  2. Do I have to pay for the app? No, the app is free.
  3. Can I access this on a MAC/Smartphone/Tablet? Yes. For some devices, the app offers a better experience than the browser.

As a final note, as the platform that I am using to host this course is managed by Udemy, all technical/playback/access issues will need to be addressed to them. On a PC move your cursor over your avatar and select ‘support’ from the menu. In the app tap on ‘Account’ and then swipe down until you see ‘support’ and tap on that.

  2. Hi John what a fantastic course for beginners and the extra 3 add on’s were so good, I found your course on a group on facebook and subscribed straight away a bargain at £ 9.99 . I learnt so much about the canvas work space that I didn’t know about and also I like the fact you can watch it over and over again just incase you forget like I do sometimes . Ive also signed up for a couple of free courses in inkscape as I often refer back to that being a cameo user . So thankyou very much for the lessons, if there are anymore courses that will benefit us please let us know keep up the good work

  5. App Downloaded, well impressed with the site, Had a skim through your tutorials John, and already found out bits, I didn’t know. Now need to set some quality time, and work through all the steps. We’ve a small Scanncut class running, I’m sure our ladies will love your tutorials. All the best with your new venture.

    When I clicked through to find out more I was shocked at the price of your course. A bargain! And if it gets my scan n cut out of the box and used then it will be well worth it. My mum has an innovis v5 embroidery machine and I know the scan n cut can be used in conjunction with it. Maybe sometime soon I will have the confidence to use them both!

    I have two scan n cut machines the 300 and 700 neither machine has really been used. In fact, the 700 is still in it’s box. Will I have to run updates on these machines before I start the course and can they foiland emboss and most importantly how do I update the machines?

    • Thank you for signing up. You will need to do the updates and this is covered in the first section. Yes both machines can foil and emboss but you’ll need the kits – a new section will be added soon showing these in action.

      • Thank you John for your prompt reply. I was a bit worried how I got the updates done. You have even thought about the unusual bits and questions. I am looking forward to getting started now. Just need to make room for the wheelchair and help to unpack them from their boxes. Looking forward to getting back to crafting after a hiatus due to ill health.

  16. This is BRILLIANT! Unlike many other video tutorials I have watched online which are often poorly shot with rambling dialogues that leave me beating my head against the keyboard in frustration yours have always been professional looking with concise instructions. A chance to have any seat in your classes is an impossible dream (I am on a retired budget which has no room for travel). Now I can actually have a front row seat in your class! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!   19. What a good idea, although I have been using the machine for a while and would like more advanced lessons, do I have to buy this section, (which I don’t mind you can always learn something new) or will be able to join in on you up dates. Joan
