It’s a while before I relinquished the trappings of daily life and went out on the road but did you know it’s not the first time that I have done this?

A long long time ago in a lifetime far away, and back when anxiety did not cripple me at the thought of such a long journey, I decided to up-sticks and head off down under. I spent a year just living in the moment. So freeing and uplifting.

This year is the 20th anniversary of that life-changing event. I still have friends out there and we Skype, we chat, we reminisce but sometimes you know, life really is meant to be lived rather than remembered as a nostalgic memory.

One day I will return.

Using that ethos as a theme, I created this.

Teaching myself a lot of life lessons through these little critters. May have to frame them and pop them on the wall instead of just on the desk in a pile.

If you would like to know a little more about this project, here are a list of the supplies used and a quick step-by-step of the method.

Supplies

• Blank Artist Trading Card,
• Tim Holtz Distress Inkpad – Pine Needles,
• Archival Inkpad – Black,
• Tim Holtz Idea-ology – Small Talk Stickers,
• Stampscapes Rubber Stamp 213G – Autumn Bank (Left),
• Ink Blending Tool,
• Large Acrylic Block,
• White Gel Pen,
• Pritt Stick,

Method

1. A graduated layer of pine needles ink was applied to the ATC with a blending tool.
2. I then applied used the Pritt stick to adhere the stamp to the acrylic block.
3. With the black inkpad and autumn bank stamp, an impression was printed at the bottom of the ATC.
4. Stars were added with tiny dabs of the white gel pen. This was then also used to add some moonlight shading to the trees and water – dabbing it with the fingertip before it dries helps make it less stark and to use the ink as a shader rather than detailer.
5. To finish, the sentiment was then stuck to the top right edge of the ATC.

Once again, something so small contains such a powerful statement. Is it just because of the personal reason behind it or does it speak to you too?
