All Counties Craft Challenge Diary – Winter Cometh, Making It In Mudeford, Magic Mushrooms, A Winter Woodland, Fabric Land, The Strawberry Zebra and Down On The Farm PART 2

Hallo and welcome to Part 2 of this two-part All Counties Craft Challenge diary post – so much happened I had to split up the post to keep load sizes down!

Right, ready? Let’s go…

Oh, by the way, if you haven’t already seen the first part of this diary post, then click here to read Part 1.

A Strawberry Zebra Down On The Farm

Once again, the venue surprise was evident in the next destination. Many of those in the south of England will have heard of or even visited Pickwell Farm. This is where Carolyn Draper invited me to.

Looks nice and farm-shoppy doesn’t it? Actually I think it’s had various extensions since this photo but either way, nice!

What I wasn’t expecting was the strawberry zebra that was guarding the door. That’s defo not your average guard dog.

No, seriously, look!

You CAN see this, right?

*wonders just how magic those mushrooms were?!*

Hehe, no, tiz real!

So tempted to jump on and shout yee-haaa!

Inside, and just past the fresh aroma of field-to-shop vegetables, was the craft shop itself – what a fabulous selection!

Hehe, anyway, time to meet Carolyn …

Carolyn was the lovely lady that invited me to complete the workshop at Pickwell Farm. Thank you! :)

We had a quick natter however it was time to set for the workshop!

I minced around lobbing out the bits and pieces…

…done! I’m getting the hang of this now I think.

Even got a brew too!

The only slight issue

Another Gelli Plate day for this group and we were soon at it creating all sorts of combinations and variations…

We even got to chat with Nigel May at Create and Craft TV studios live via Skype video call!

Exciting!

Much mess later and time for Maisy-cam!

This wasn’t the last that I would see of Pickwell Farm however as I had been asked to do an overview on the Scan N Cut by some local ‘scanners’ that wanted to get to grips with their machines.

Back ‘home’ for a quick nap and then it was back down on the farm for day 2.

Day 2 sped around and is was back down the farm to set up for day 2. This day had been arranged by a group who wanted to get an overview of the Scan N Cut. The group was put together by Lorraine who you will see in the image gallery below so a big thanks to her for organizing that side of things for this day.

The day went well and all were v happy with what they learnt and went home 100% confident that they would not use their machines much more – always good to hear – especially when they have sat in boxes for a few months or even years!

Now then. You may have noticed the lovely warm winter sun, that didn’t make anything warm. At the end of the second day I was treated to a bit of nature’s glory again with a fabby sunset so, another bit of jigerry pokery digi art for the files I think!

*happy exhale so hard that I run out of breathe and wheeze some back in*

:)

Rightm that just about brings things up to date.

  2. Fantastic post, John, I love reading about your adventures and I’m very envious of your digital photo editing skills. Are you sure the “Scanners” were 100% confident they would NOT use their machines much more? I’m guessing it’s a blip but it did make me laugh :)

  3. Hi John. Glad your day went well at Mudeford, and that you enjoyed some of our beautiful Dorset countryside. It was nice to meet you in the “range in Poole and be able to thank you in person for your generosity on your wonderful craft emporium site. Also for the help and encouragement you give all us scan and cutters. Good luck with the rest of the challenge.
    Best wishes Sheryl Carman.

  4. Love reading how things are getting on for you John. I understand all too well the woes of insomnia. I’m glad to see you puttin up a fight with it. Your dairy posts are wonderful for those of us who sadly live on the other side of the pond and can’t attend. Thank you
