Techno Tuesday – PaintCan by Adobe Labs

September 20, 2016 — Leave a comment

The automated photo art apps can sometimes leave you a little out of control.

Todays choice therefore brings some of the control back into your own hands.

The app that I am featuring today is PaintCan by Adobe Labs.

If you know anything about professional design, you’ll have heard of Adobe. They make Photoshop and Illustrator, two powerhouses in the professional world of designs.

PaintCan isn’t really ‘related’ to either of the above programmes but instead has its own legs to stand on.

Adobe describe their app by saying, “With PaintCan, anybody can paint”™ PaintCan helps you paint beautiful artworks from your favorite photographs within minutes. PaintCan is not a painterly effect applied to your image—you really are the painter! But don’t worry, anybody can do it. PaintCan helps you paint, with smart brushes.

Essentially you are ‘tracing’ an existing image with the help of the app.

I haven’t played with this app enough yet to show you my examples however here area few of the examples that were supplied in the app to inspire…

Pretty amazing isn’t it?! I wonder if we should have a challenge where we send each other photos and have a go at painting them…

In either case, if you’d like to get hold of PaintCan by Adobe Labs, you can download it from the App Store.

Hope you enjoy creating with this one.

Bye for now.

J :)
