Artist Trading Card Daily 125

For today’s last Artist Trading Card post I have gone a little off-the-wall and headed down the mixed media experimental road.

It’s a road I veer down every now and again. Come with me if you like :)

To start this ATC I applied light green ink through a dotty stencil.

I then moved the stencil and applied dark green ink.

Some shading was added and then I left the piece to dry.

This whole piece was then coated in clear gloss.

When this layer had dried it had curled the card slightly so I tried to gently straighten this out but only succeeded in cracking the gloss – so I worked with it and cracked it loads more.

To highlight the cracks I rubbed a mahogany distress inkpad over the gloss and then spritzed with water so that it seeped into the cracks.

Looks cool doesn’t it?!

I finished it off with some glitter glue around the edges.

A simple mat/layer style finished this off nicely.

I really like doing this kind of thing. Might do some as mini gifts for Christmas…

Do you like to go “off-road” every now and again?

  2. Nice ATC would have been informative if you had told us what you did to it before you put the clear gloss on.,.lol

  3. Hi John, have you borrowed some of Santa’s little helpers? You must have to manage all these ATCs and run a business. The ‘wonderment’ that is John B!
