A few months ago I made a very hard decision to resign from my role as a TV Producer at Create and Craft TV.
Having been involved in the channel for over 12 years, from day 1 in fact, it is definitely like saying goodbye to a dear family member.
The choice to leave a steady income and become reliant on my own abilities in order to generate an income has been an incredibly scary one. Plagued with self doubt I have on numerous occasions thought about just finding any old job, just to pay the bills however I had a word with myself (actually in the mirror) and have told myself that I can and indeed should do this.
It’s now or never.
So I have popped my diving goggles on, pinched my nose and taken the plunge.
Things are a little more settled now but it has been a frantic and nervous time with product pitches, late night tinkering, list making, email sending, phone calls and endless coffee of a hopeful young (sort of) man.
I have many things running around in my head and I hope to be able to tell you more in the very near future, as and when things start to come to fruition.
The first project that is now up and running is my own internet based digital craft shop featuring a range of my own designs, and those of a small group of illustrators and designers, as digital crafting products (digi stamps, digi papers, sewing patterns etc).
I am very pleased to say that this was launched successfully earlier this month. It is called the Digital Craft Emporium.
More will be added as time progresses so please do check in regularly.
To this end all salable items have now been/will be removed/transferred from this blog. I shall no longer be selling directly from here, only the shop. I’d like to get this happy blog back to a land where it’s more about the crafting than the shopping.
On top of this I shall be offering my services out in a number of freelance avenues so you never know, I may even pop up at a craft event near you soon … ?
There is much more in the pipeline, and with an active brain like mine, you can be sure that next year is going to be equally as exciting for both you and I; indeed, plans for a UK tour are already underway!
I also plan to return to university, at some point in the not too distant future, and study contemporary crafts. This is something that I have wanted to do for many years as I never did complete a degree.
The blog and YouTube channel will continue but please bear with me whilst I deal with the choas of the above taking over my life – I will continue to post but it may only be once a week or so for now.
On that basis, I am still going to try and continue with my ATC challenge as it’s more important now than ever that I take the time out to continue to enjoy what inspired my career at C&C and what continues to inspire me now.
I really hope that you will continue to share the love that you have shown me already and will help spread the word about my efforts to become a self-employed creative business owner …
Many thanks for reading this and I look forward to hearing from you (or possibly even meeting you) all in the future.
Love to all!
