Hallo me hearties!
Ever have that thing that where what you set out to make doesn’t end up anything like you initially imagined? Well, I can tell you that it can happen to even the smallest of projects.
For instance, this Artist Trading Card was supposed to be about sailing or boats or something along the lines of the sea due to the background.
But as you can see, there is not a boat in sight.
How did this happen? Well, whist rummaging through my growning collection of free stamps from Craft Stamper magazine I found this lady’s face and got suddenly inspired to create a dreamscape with her face smack bang in the centre.
So that’s what I did.
The background was one of those Colorburst experiments that I appear to have quite a lot of.
The face was stamped directly onto this with Memento ink and then coloured in with a gold Wink of Stella pen. I also added a little detail to the eyes and mouth with gel pens.
The decoration was also a simple affair with some gems stuck in position to show dreams radiating from the lady and then a hand written “dream” sentiment on the bottom of the ATC.
Bish bash bosh, job done.
What do you think? A happy accident maybe?

I too see it as sky rather than sea and a very atmospheric sky at that. Love this as it just draws your eyes to it and you seem to just have to look at it deeper and over again. Definitely a winner in my eyes and not an accident in any way just an evolving picture that only shows itself in its own sweet time. Rock on John! Sue

Hi John
I love the colour burst background and your handwritten dreaming. I have the Craft Stamper every month and put the stamp in my box of ones I think I will never use but. I really like what you have created.

I liked this. I am sure the background would work just as well with boats.

The colourburst on this is fantastic. I also love the gold pen, where is that from?
Thank you for sharing.

Didn’t like the stamp when I saw it on the Stamper magazine cover but you’ve done a good job with it John!

Well John I think this is a happy accident! Not really an accident but perhaps … what was meant to be is to be!! I love it & can see sky rather than sea. But then put a boat on it & I would probably have seen sea!!! Lol!! I just love your designs – what imagination you gave. Wish I had as much, I tend to stick to the same thing until a customer asks me to make something different & then I have to get my thinking cap on!!! Usually works ok tho!
Thanks for sharing
Happy crafting
