Monday Mash Up - Blingin Up The Ritz With Impression Obsession 11

Monday Mash Up – Puttin’ On (And Blingin’ Up) The Ritz

Hello my lovely bloggy chums! I’m very excited as I managed to get some time in the craft room this weekend!

Would you like to see what I made…?

Well, here she be …

Monday Mash Up - Blingin Up The Ritz With Impression Obsession 8

A very fru-fru twenties flapper feel to this one me thinks!

I’m told that it’s good, but that it lacks a sentiment. To be honest, with so much going on on the card I was reluctant to put one on … what do you think?

Anyway, here’s a quick rundown on how I made this.

Let’s start with that background.

This was made with the Impression Obsession Cover-A-Card Dotty Pattern background stamp. This was stamped out with black archival ink onto white cardstock.

I then whipped out the worn lipstick and picked raspberry Distress Inkpads from Tim Holtz and have the whole piece a light blush.

And now for the bit that really put the love in this card. The mini gems. One for each of those little dotty motifs … all 144 of them!

You know when you start something you think it’s a good idea … well, let’s just leave it at that, lol ;)

To create the topper I stamped out the single stamp from the Silhouette Women collection from Hero Arts, again in archival ink and then gave that a blush of Distress Ink. This time it was Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick.

I use a little post it not to mask off the upper area so that I could add a little more intensity at the bottom to indicate the floor area.

One last little touch to the topper was to add some shadow impressions of the Dotty stamp in Distress Ink, just to carry the design through.

To complete the card I got some eyelash yarn, as I thought that it worked with the style of the times from whence the lady came, and added a strip of this to the dotty background and then surrounded the topper with it also. FYI I used super strong tape for this as I need it to stick instantly.

A couple more gems (because it really need more!) were added along with a paper formed bow.

Now I wanted this to be an eight inch square card but the main design was only just under six so I rooted through my paper stash but oddly couldn’t find the colour/design that I wanted so I got the closest thing to it and then just coloured it with an alcohol marker.

After that it was just a case of layering this up and applying it to the card front and hey presto – job done!

Here is a closer look at some of the areas of the card.

What do you think? Does it need a sentiment? Is it just TOOO pink?

I quite like it however have a few notes on what I would do differently next time.

I hope that you enjoyed this blog post.

  1. It’s really lovely as it is, I have friends who rave over pink and in that case, it can never be too pink. I wouldn’t put a sentiment on it

  2. Hi John, love this card and that yarn gives it a special twenties look to go with the card and it’s great with all the pink!
I think I’d have stuck on a sentiment but with all those gems you very patiently stuck on I would have been reluctant to as well.
Hope you get some more crafting days as you make great stuff x

  3. Love the pink can’t be too pink for me, love the jewels but sorry I hate the eyelash yarn a bit more layering would have done it for me and then a sentiment could be layered the same way,not too big though shame to cover all the jewels after your patience in sticking them on. I think your stamping is excellent is the over all stamp one or did you have to match it up?
Keep on with the good work

  5. WOW what a beautiful card & all those gems! Now that’s what I call dedication to detail!! I don’t think it is too pink! But if it was mine i think i would add a sentiment – just simple one like happy birthday. But that’s only personal opinion! I just love it especially the eyelash trim. Well done John! Keep up the good work & thanks for sharing.
I love following your blog & seeing what you are doing. It’s like a friend popping in for a crafty chat!
    Happy crafting
