Artist Trading Card Daily – 64

I have been reflecting on life a lot recently and have come to the conclusion that I should be grateful for a lot of things. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not been an easy ride; I’ve had my fair share of rubbish bits but just recently I am trying to make the choice to look at the positives and be appreciative of what I have so I wanted to sum this up in one of these ATC makes.

After a little rummage through my stash I think that I found the perfect set of sentiments. It was the “Friendly Advice” clear stamp set from Inkadinkado.

This sentiment from Alyssa Knight, Age 12, summed up what I was trying to express precisely.

The ATC was a quick make. It started by making an impression of the sentiment using Versafine Black ink.

I then masked off the lower portion of the ATC with my cloud mask (created in a previous make) and then used a Tim Holtz distress marker in the Perfect Paper Partners pen spritzer to lightly add some blue and lilac tones to the top area of the ATC.

I trimmed down the white cardstock a little and then mounted onto grey and black cardstock.

Pretty dull colours so far, so to add some colour I created a rainbow of gems at the top of the ATC using Anita’s Mini Gems and some PVA that I applied with a fine tipped applicator.

And that was it, simple, but with a very powerful message – thank you Alyssa!

I will most definitely be counting my rainbows from now on! What about you?

  1. It is a wonderful sentiment John and very fitting for all of us who have one of ‘those’ days (or many of them!). That it should come from the heart of a 12 year old is equally poignant. I don’t know whether you have heard of SUMO? (it means Shut Up and Move On and is nowhere near as harsh as it sounds). I discovered SUMO over 7 years ago and it is a wonderful thing to have in your life. The chap who brought it to us is Paul McGee and he certainly knows how to inspire! Have a Google and try it! Thank you for sharing this – Carpe Diem! Barbara B.
