Three weeks in and still going! I hope that you are enjoying this series of posts.
I am very humbled by the compliments that you have all left – and this is what has inspired today’s creation about friendship.
This creation started with a digi stamp – sadly I can’t remember who it is from and I can’t find it again on my computer (I printed this in the middle of 2014!)
If you recognise it, please do let me know…
Anyway, the creation of this was fairly simple. As I mentioned this design was printed some time ago onto Kraft Cardstock. I often print a batch of stuff so that I have something ready to colour – do you do this too?
I used Spectrum Noir pens (in grey tones) to colour in the character and scene.
I then masked of the little girl and created another mask for clouds using a sticky note. I then used a black Versacolour inkpad and dry wet wipe to brush on some shading for the clouds. I did take off a lot of the ink before brushing it on so that it was a very light application.
I added a little ink to the edges to give it a little more of a distressed look and added some highlights with a white colouring pencil.
It was then mounted onto some coordinating cardstock.
I really liked the finished design as it has quite a nostalgic feel to it – wouldn’t you agree?
And there we have it, another mini make for my ATC365 challenge. Quite proud that I am still going as I thought that I would fail after the first week – it must be your positive feedback keeping me at it – thank you!

Another stunning piece of artwork! I love catching up with your blog whilst on the train each morning on my way to work.
The image is from an American artist called Elisabeth Bell. Katy Sue Designs licensed a CD-Rom and a set of stamps

Wow! Your colouring technique is superb. I have been practising my colouring after seeing your bugs from the Secret Garden colouring book. You really get us all going! I do love the monochrome effect in this picture so am inspired to have a go myself. Each ATC you produce is outdone by the next one. Please keep them coming!!!

Hi John
What an adorable image, and beautifully coloured! Wish I could keep up every day but I do always go back and check when I can, as I don’t think I’ve seen anything you’ve done I don’t like!

I love this john. You are right about the nostalgic feel to the piece. It reminds me of Dorothy in the wizard of oz. So beautiful. This would, in my opinion, look good in a small frame so it looks like an old photograph

This for me is stunning, love the shading, haven’t a clue how it’s done but can tell when it’s done well.

This trading card is the best so far, loved all the others but this one is right up my street! I love the way you colour and have taken it on board for my tectinque, thank you. My question is how do you get your masques so perfect, do you use your Brother or are you just a great person ace with scissors? Thank you

For the clouds i just used scissors. Post it note masks are quite forgiving thankfully :)

Aw, John. This is so pretty. I love the way the little girl has her hand on her kitty cat. Fantastic work as always. Could I ask you a question about the cardstock please? What brand are you using for this series? x
