Giant Granny Square Blanket Crochet For Christmas - Part 2 - 2

Christmas Crochet Complete!

A while back I showed you a crochet blanket project that I had started and asked you for your help on deciding on how to finishing it off.

The original post can be found here.

Well, I’m pleased to say that I have finished it – finally!

Giant Granny Square Blanket Crochet For Christmas - Part 2 - 1

Bejeez-louise, It’s huge!

I know that I put down a measurement that I hoped to achieve last time however I think that the fact that I just kept going and didn’t really stop to measure it has meant that it ended up being a bit bigger than I thought – it was really supposed to be a lap blanket – it’s now a lap blanket for a giant!

Anyway, the dilemma last time I spoke about this was how to finish it off.

Well, I did end up getting some more of the mixed yarn and carried on with that initially. All in all I have used approx 3 x 200g balls of that Jarol mixed yarn that I mentioned previously.

To finish it off I did two rounds in the same treble-cluster-granny-square style but in a dark teal colour (that almost matched one of the main mix yarn colours) and then a single row of treble clusters and a single row of double crochets in a slightly lighter colour to end.

Here’s a closer look at that.

You can probably see that the teal border doesn’t quite match the greeny turquoise in the main mix however the colours of the blanket always seem to be shifting depending what light they are in and this seemed to be the best coordinating set.

I don’t know about you but I am really happy with the way it all came together. Although it is another one of those things that I’ve made and am a little reluctant to give away I can’t wait to hand this over on Christmas day!

Since I finished this there have been a couple of visitors to the house this week who have also asked for one – looks like there’s going to be a lot of crochet going on next year, lol.

Anyway, lots more going on here and still lots more to make and I really don’t know where the time is going so I’d best crack on.

How are you getting on – all sorted yet?

Thanks for stopping by. See you next time.

J :)
